- Recipients of this award may invite up to four members of their writing community to join them.
- The award covers all accommodation costs at the Victorian home, absorbed by Inverted Syntax Press LLC.
- While there is no cost to recipients, Inverted Syntax is funded out of our submission fees and book sales (which do not cover our operating costs) so we hope you will consider donating to cover cleaning costs and/or towards the scholarship fund for the retreat. We will accept donations via Inverted’s Venmo to help with the cleaning cost ($175) of the space. Please email Nawal at [email protected] to see how you can help offset this cost through a donation. Any amount is welcome and donating is not a condition of receiving the award and you may choose not to donate.
- The home has four bedrooms. Three bedrooms on the 2nd floor and one on the main floor adjacent to the kitchen. All four bedrooms have queen beds, and the three bedrooms on the 2nd floor also have bunkbeds (so there are plenty of beds). With four bedrooms, plenty of beds, and only five guests permitted to stay, plan your sleeping arrangements amongst yourselves accordingly.
- Remember, you are on your own: This is a self-guided writing retreat. You are being offered space for peace and focus to help you on your writing journey.
- This is not a communal space. No one, but you and your guests will be staying at the house.
- The award cannot be exchanged for goods nor can it be transferred to a different recipient.
- The 2023 Sublingua Writing Retreat Award must be used between March 1, 2024 and July 24, 2024 or between October 1- November 10. The deadline to accept the award is no later than December 1, 2023. (Some dates are not available. Please submit your dates to us as soon as you receive the award).
- Recipients are responsible for their own travel arrangements, as well as their own meals.
