Winner Of 2019 Sublingua Prize for Poetry
Gabriella Vogt, “ Life”
Our deepest thanks to all the writers who entered the inaugural Sublingua Prize for Poetry. Thank you for trusting Inverted Syntax with your work. The submissions were read blind by our judge, Dorothea Lasky, and the winner, runners-up, and finalists were selected exclusively by her. |
Gabriella Vogt grew up in Poulsbo, Washington. She has studied creative writing at Fairhaven College at Western Washington University, though she’s on an indefinite hiatus from actually getting her Bachelor’s degree. Gabriella makes work about dailiness, ritual, and wanting. She sees reading and writing as divinatory arts, and her writing and tarot practices are often collaborative. She lives in Seattle with her partner and hopefully, one day, a cat. |
About the Prize
The Inverted Syntax Sublingua Prize for Poetry awards a cash prize of $1,000 and publication in our print issue for a group of exceptionally crafted, previously unpublished pieces by a writer who has not yet published a full-length manuscript nor a chapbook exceeding 44 pages. The awe-inspiring poet Dorothea Lasky will judge. All submission entries are also considered for publication.
